Summary:really short ficlet so I can't really summarize without just basically giving it all away. ^^;


Was inspired to write this after watching Dreamboys 2008 fancam.

Skinship

It didn’t mean anything really; all the touching and flirting, it was something they all grew up with and had grown used to. Fanservice was an almost requirement for being a Johnny boy, and he wasn’t sure when and how it happened, but somehow it’d also become a necessity for KAT-TUN.

Avert pubic eyes from AkaKame had been the idea, and it didn’t really affect him at first. Akanishi had been more often paired up with Ueda from the beginning, Kame with Junno, and he’d been left with Maru – the TaNaka combi. So really he didn’t have to adjust his own level of fanservice that much.

Yet as time past by, especially during the time Akanishi had left for half a year, he’d been granted more and more jobs with Kame and slowly almost naturally the service between them two had grown exponentially. And even after Akanishi’s quick return he hadn’t let up; it was just too easy teasing the older man. It was fun and he was close to Kame so there was no awkwardness between them.

But once, just once during Dream Boys when he was reaching for Kame’s arm – only casually too – the younger boy had flinched away from him. Kame didn’t seem to realize his own actions, but he had and for a millionth of a second stood there frozen – a painful clenching in his chest – before reaching out his arm once more towards Kame and continuing on with their skit.

Later when Akanishi had gone to see them backstage he watched as his two band mates spoke softly to the side. Saw the smile that lit up Kame’s face as Akanishi mentioned how his singing had really improved. Noticed how whenever Akanishi touched the younger man Kame would respond back positively, whether it was leaning towards the touch or simply lightly squeezing back at Akanishi’s hand in his own.

And he didn’t want to admit it but it hurt to watch the duo. It hurt to know that only the two were prohibited to keep their touches to a minimum. To know that whenever the two came in physical contact it was discreet and for only themselves and not for the fans – never for the fans…not anymore.

*He’d never admit it because Kame loved him like a brother – only as a brother – and he knew that despite all the physical closeness that he and Kame shared it didn’t mean anything. Never meant anything more than fanservice.

It was just simply skinship.

*Okay so when I went back and reread the ficlet I found one major typo.
it doesn't see that big but in the line

"He’d never admit it because he loved Kame like a brother – only as a brother -"

it was actually supposed to be

"He’d never admit it because Kame loved him like a brother – only as a brother –"

...and yeah, it completely changes the meaning of the line entirely.
